The winter storage of competition boats is essential for the off-season maintenance of this type of boats, which take advantage of this period between competitions to carry out tests, improvements and repairs in order to optimise performance. It requires maximum care and professional dry-docking operations where every detail counts.

Andrés Varela Entrecanales' V68 Pelotari Project is a Mark Mills V68 design, 21 metres long and 5.5 metres wide, which competes in Maxi 3 class regattas.

After participating in the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup in Porto Cervo (Sardinia) and in Les Voiles de Saint Tropez, the crew of the Pelotari Project has once again entrusted Alcudiamar with its dry-docking and wintering.

The dry-docking procedure for a boat of these characteristics requires special means and methodology. In these cases it is carried out with Alcudiamar's 150 ton Travelift. A special beaching bed is also necessary, designed to the millimetre to accommodate the Pelotari Project. The level of detail that is followed in the maintenance is such that the mobile elements of the bed are periodically adapted to avoid traces of paint or polishing marks.

Among the different works that will be carried out during this period on the Pelotari Project, a general overhaul of the boat stands out, in which special attention is paid to the base of the hull, a fundamental element for optimising aerodynamics in displacement and, therefore, adding a few seconds to the speed, as well as optimising the ballast tanks.

It will be in March when a Retro Fit of the improvements will be carried out, always with the objective in mind of optimising the boat's performance.

The Pelotari Project has already confirmed its participation in the regattas Ruta de la Sal - Rumbo Ibiza 2025 and Regata Palma Vela 2025.
